On 14 February, our system detected a cell phone signal near the coast of Sao Paulo and trigger earthquake alert for users in the region. We immediately disabled the alert system in Brazil and are investigating the incident. We are committed to our users for discomfort and are committed to improving our equipment.
Google says that it has disabled the alert system in Brazil for some time, although it is not clear how long it will remain down.
