The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the Indian Premier League (IPL) umpires to be slightly more generous on player-celebrations. According to a report, the BCCI gave instructions during a weekly review meeting of the IPL umpires held last week. This reported Vikas Lucknow Super Veterans (LSG) comes in the midst of a backlash on the fine imposed on spinner Digvesh Rathi, which has been punished twice on his ‘Notebook’ festival this season. Digwesh, who is playing his first IPL season, has impressed nine wickets in seven matches.

The report claimed, “The umpires have also been asked to go a little more generously on the player-celebrations after the flake received to punish the Digvesh Rathi of Lucknow Super Veterans this season for their ‘Notebook’ festival.”
Apart from his deadly mantras, Digwesh has also made headlines due to his controversial festival after taking wickets.
Digwesh has been fined by BCCI twice for its wild ceremony after taking wickets. Earlier during the match against Punjab Kings, he pointed a notebook after rejecting Priyash AryaDuring the match against Mumbai Indians, where he won the Player of the Match Award, he performed a similar celebration after taking wickets Naman dhir,
On both occasions, the spinner was fined 50 percent of his match fee for violation of the level -1 code of IPL conduct.
The BCCI said in a release, “This was their second level 1 crime under Article 2.5 this season and hence, they have deposited two demerit points, in addition to a demerit point, which he had deposited during the LSG match against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025 during the LSG match.”
Digvesh will be in action on Saturday as LSG will take a visit to Jaipur to Rajasthan Royals at Sarai Mansingh Stadium. LSG ranks fifth in the points table with eight points in seven matches.
