Goldeyes ace Joey Matulovich struggled to control his game in the series opener and the league leader in strikeouts and earned run average allowed three runs on four hits with a pair of walks before being pulled after the fourth inning.

Seeking their first title since 2017 after missing the playoffs last year, the Goldeyes didn’t have a hit of more than one goal. They had the bases loaded twice but failed to score a run.
