Camera and Imaging Product Association (CIPA) recently published its total production and shipment Data for JanuaryThe latest data shows that the demand for compact cameras is strong. Shipments of the interchangeable lens system also increased year by year, while people in the SLR system slowed down.

CIPA breaks its data into camera types, with the underlying lenses and dedicated sections to cameras with the interchangeable lens system. It also distinguishes between SLR and Mirrorless cameras and provides specific data about different areas. All digital cameras still saw a 6% increase in shipments compared to January 2024 figures, while interchangeable lens cameras were up to 5% year-to-year.

The built-in lens system, however, saw the greatest growth of all categories. In January, 124,085 units were sent, integrated lens cameras saw an increase in shipment of 11% compared to January last year. It was also noteworthy that the price of shipted compact cameras increased by 50% compared to January last year. The number of units sent than the fact that the price is growing rapidly indicates that prices are more for those cameras.

The increase in price is not completely surprising, given that the demand for compact is still high. Like camera Fujifilm x100vi Have been very popular. According to the map camera, One of the largest photography retailers in Japan, Fujifilm X100VI was its best -selling camera in February 2025. Canon Powershot V1Which was also recently declared in CP+, is also important. Powershot V1 is available only in Asia and was not determined to start shipping by April. Despite all that, DCWatch reports The canon has already announced that it is experiencing issues of supply lack and resulting delivery time may be longer than normal.

While the increase in compact camera shipment is interesting, this is largely the result of two areas. China saw the biggest growth; January 2024 vs 18,955 units were sent in January 2025, with an increase of 213%, the shipment of compact cameras increased significantly year-on-year, only 6,055 units were sent. Asia (except China and Japan) also saw an increase, although at a higher 22%. Europe and America, however, saw some thousand less shipments of compact cameras to see some shipments of year-to-year (about 6% fall).

While compacts saw an increase in shipment, SLR saw a decline in January 2025 compared to January 2024. SLR shipments were 16% year-on-year below. This is not very surprising, given that the last DLSR which was released was Pentax K-3 Mark III in March 2021, and Canon and Nikon released DSLRS respectively in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Sigma is also Now not developing new DSLR lensesNeedless to say, it seems that the sun is set to DSLRS, so it makes sense that the shipment will slow down.
