Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose finalize divorce after 7 months of marriage – National


The dramatic divorce between Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose was officially finalized, three months after the singers split and accused each other of abuse.

Cyrus’ lawyers said an agreement was reached Friday in a mediation session to end their seven month marriage.

In a statement shared Monday, his lawyers said the Breaky Achy Heart The singer is eager to “leave this nightmare behind him.”

“I am so relieved…and I am grateful today for this opportunity,” Cyrus, 62, said in a statement. “This is the craziest scam I have ever heard. Not to mention I am right in the middle of it and the target of this scam.”

“It’s unfortunate… things happened this way… it wasn’t just a web of lies that put me in physical danger… it was a matter of the heart,” he continued. “Love is blind… that’s for sure.”

In their statement, Cyrus’ attorneys accused Firerose (former name Johanna Rose Hodges) of legally changing her last name to Cyrus in the weeks leading up to their divorce mediation.

“Mr. Cyrus believes this validates his claim that his ex-wife’s sole motivation for marrying him was to obtain his last name,” the statement read.

Firerose, 36, has not commented publicly on the finalization of the divorce.

According to Entertainment News, which obtained the former spouse’s consent, Firerose was received no payment from Cyrus and will not receive alimony.

Cyrus has agreed to give up all credits or royalties for 17 songs he and Firerose wrote and recorded during their relationship.

Cyrus filed for divorce In May, Firerose alleged irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. Firerose has denied any inappropriate conduct.

As news of the couple’s divorce spread, Firerose accused Cyrus of “verbal, emotional and psychological abuse.”

A audio recording In a video leaked in July, Cyrus was heard calling Firerose several names, insulting her intelligence and calling a family member a “slut” and a “devil.”

Cyrus acknowledged the leaked audio recording, but in court documents, he said he was physically, verbally and emotionally abused by Firerose. In a later statement, Cyrus said he was “at his wits’ end” during the recorded argument and accused Firerose of lying about his past and his intentions in marrying him.

Firerose argued that Cyrus filed for divorce because she needed a preventive double mastectomy to do with a BRCA1 gene mutationwhich increases the risk of developing breast cancer. She said Cyrus filed for divorce just a day before she underwent the procedure.

Cyrus responded by accusing him of driving a wedge between him and his family members and making unauthorized charges on his card totaling about US$97,000 (CA$134,000).

The former couple tied the knot in October 2023.

Cyrus was previously married to Tish Cyrus, although the couple divorced in April 2022 after 28 years of the marriage. Together, they share five children: Miley, Noah and Braison, as well as Brandi and Trace, who are Tish’s children from another relationship and who were adopted by Cyrus.

Cyrus also has another child with ex-girlfriend Kristen Luckey, son Christopher Cody.

He was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991, making Firerose his third wife.
