7 quilts and coverlets that occupy prime real estate on our editors’ beds

“If you’re looking for your favorite ‘Coastal Grandma’ button-down linen top in quilt form, Brooklinen’s Linen Quilt in White Diamond is for you. As someone who is very sensitive to certain fabric textures, I found this 100% linen comforter to be softer to the touch than most linen products I have seen. One of my biggest pet peeves is sleeping while feeling hot, especially in the summer months, and I was hesitant to use this product, thinking it might be heavy. To my surprise, the quilt was very light, super cool and breathable. And the high-quality ingredients don’t end there. There were no visible signs of stretch on the threads during stitching, which is always a green sign. Since the crisp white color of this simple but stylish quilt is so neutral, I can definitely imagine it being versatile when fitting into a specific decor aesthetic. This quilt would look good in any space, from a French country farmhouse to a pre-war city apartment.

“There’s something about a channeled quilt that reminds of opening the linen closet door and picking out a pile of gathered blankets for another layer. Despite the style’s longevity, it still looks incredibly classic today. There’s only one difference with the Schoolhouse iteration: It’s so beautiful — with its detailed channeling and subtly rustic texture — you’ll never want to hide it in a closet. Luckily, it’s light enough to cover bedding year-round and is reversible, should you want to flip the pigment-rich side out for a cool heather-grey option as the seasons change. Made of 100% cotton, the layer is nicely breathable (good news for those who sleep at warmer body temperatures but still desire a quilted topper) and machine washable. Both sides are also surprisingly soft – so much so that it can even serve as a cozy layer on the couch for movie nights.

“After a lifetime of quilters and comforters, West Elm’s European Flax Linen Box Stitch Quilt converted me to a quilter. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back since. I bought it when I moved to New York about a year ago and, like your favorite jeans, it’s gotten more comfortable in that favorite way. It’s the optimal softness and weight for all seasons – it’s warm enough when worn with a blanket during winter, but also light enough to keep me pleasantly cool in summer – that I’ve never had to do this tough job. No space or time has to be dedicated for this. The process of changing bedding whenever the weather changes. Although it has seen very little wear over the past year, it does appear to have some minor pulls in the fabric (although, in my opinion, this adds to the overall “lived-in” feel and look of the quilt). . The comforter comes in a few earth-tone color options, and you can even buy a bedding set that comes with matching shams. For me, this comforter isn’t some big glorious blanket – it’s the safe haven that I look forward to curling up around me at the end of every night, 365 days a year.

“After seeing him incredible cover story come together, it was no surprise that interior designers Justina Blakeney Knocked it out of the park with this quilt from their brand, Junglo. It’s lightweight, breathable and, of course, looks adorable in my plant-filled bedroom. The faded dusty-salmon color is the optimal neutral-without-boring solid color and matches perfectly with one of my favorite sage green linen sheet sets. Inspired by tiles from around the world, this gauzy fabric features intricate stitching. Upon closer inspection, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the details, especially at such an affordable price. As a hardcore duvet user (and clumsy bedside coffee drinker), I have to admit I was a little concerned about cleaning the quilt. But my panic proved unnecessary because it’s machine washable, and you can even throw it in the dryer.

“I would be happy to ellen van dusen Design My Whole World – So it should come as no surprise that Dusen Dusen’s green check coverlet takes the top spot among my favorite bedding (and trust me, I’ve tried so hard!Since this coverlet set makes a statement on its own, I’m dressing it up with something simple and elegant linen sheets (Although the brand has a lot patterned sets That will match beautifully too). The design of the coverlet is light and airy perfect for the spring to summer season, but when paired with a nice fuzzy throw it’s also super cozy on cooler nights (It’s like from CasatexAs far as fabric patterns go, I’ve never been so keen on bedtime. The cream-and-sea-foam palette provides the perfect pop of color, while the checkerboard itself feels like a chic update on a classic motif (the delightful matching shams really tie the whole look together). The cotton fabric was already extremely soft when it came out of the bag, but since putting it in the laundry to be washed (just make sure you follow the care instructions!), it’s even softer than before. Soft and shiny, which makes me look forward to sleeping with it. Bed for years to come.”

“This quilt has been easy to work with from day one. I washed it straight out of the box and felt it soften instantly. I had intended to put it on top of my quilt, but I ended up preferring the quilt itself. The softness and breathability of the hemp fibers is really pleasant, and I still feel snug enough. This quilt has a neat box-quilt pattern that looks interesting and moves around in an almost checkerboard area. It’s available in white or oat (I chose the latter, which feels sophisticated and not too flashy if your bedroom leans more minimalist, as mine does). It’s also a fairly thin layer, which I appreciate, and it doesn’t feel overly heavy or suffocating. If you’re looking for an eye-catching quilt, there are definitely bold options on this list, but this one is perfect for a serene setup. Apart from looks and functionality, I like that hemp linen has particularly excellent sustainability credentials. I think this is a great option for anyone looking to upgrade their bedding without sacrificing the planet.
