4 stages of a remodel: mid -progenous crisis

Amendment Design/Remoddling
It all seems exciting, right? No doubt, this is. But progress is not as much scene as in the honeymoon phase. Since everything is behind the walls, under the foundation or behind the atix, the big “wow” is not just as if everything is torn.

It is around the time that I have often seen home owners concerned about progress. Yes, there are plumbers, but where are the new sinks? Why is not a single light stability installed yet? Is HVAC man also working, or is he just taking a nap in the attic?

Another contribution to the crisis is the fact that it takes a little longer to solve any crop speed during this phase. Overall, the placement of existing framing is the biggest obstacle in mechanical rough-in.

If your plans specify that location A may have light, but location A has a structural beam directly above it – no one can do it. Or say that your architect has nominated a toilet to climb the wall instead of the ground, but the existing wall framing prevents it from being a viable option. Back to the drawing board. Or maybe your HVAC contractor should be able to provide ductwork at a new vent hood location in your kitchen, but there is no open attic location to keep the ducts. Time to think through the option.

Another obstacle, which is less common, but still should be noted, the position of existing mechanicals. Any wiring, plumbing or venting that is not damaged, dangerous or just found equal to the building code of your municipality will need to be removed.

And I did not even start on inspection. If your job is allowed, there will be inspection for mechanical during this stage. City Building Inspector (at least where I am) is well known. If you don’t have everything Now! Right (which is finally good, because they are looking for your safety), they will not hesitate to fix the issue to your contractor, before any work can continue.
